MONUMENT VW 01 2014 Gouda Residential Renovation Private
|
The planning permission has been granted for the renovation of the monumental house in Gouda. The alteration includes a complete new plan for the ground floor and its facade to the garden. The garden was completely disconnected from the interior because of the height difference and the toilet room. By opening up the rear facade, having the living area and terrace on the same level, the garden makes part of daily life. The interior has a minimal character so the re-use of the extravagant ornamental interior objects, such as the stair bars, door knob and fire stove stand out. The polished concrete floor continues visually to outdoors, the terrace. The skirtings are part of the concrete floor to make seamless transition with the walls. The doorframe too is flush with the wall. The wall insulation and finish are made from natural materials and combined with the low temperature underfloor heating, it provides non-toxic thermal comfort. |
