ST. JANSKERK 2015 Achter de Kerk, Gouda Religious architecture Architectural lighting design |
Lighting plan to illuminate the longest church of the Netherlands, the Sint-Janskerk in Gouda. The lighting plan consist of 42 LED spotlights embedded in the ground, powered by an electrical cable of half a kilometer long. For the smooth and even light distribution between the buttresses, special lightning software is used to calculate how to achieve the desired result. A fairy-tale-like atmosphere is created. The illuminated facades of the church make the evenings warm and cozy. The lighting accentuates the architecture and the world-famous stained glass windows. By illuminating the Sint-Janskerk, it presents itself also by night as the landmark of the city. |
